A man was killed after being struck by a train near the intersection of Sarita St. and La Palma St. Friday.

San Benito police received a 911 call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck at approximately 3 p.m., said Det. Rogelio Banda. He said it was unclear if the man was attempting to cross the tracks or was walking along them. Investigators were “looking into every possibility,” he said.

Minnie Sanchez, who lives near near the intersection, said she was inside her home watching television when she heard the train’s horn sounding for a prolonged period of time. “I kept hearing it, so I got up and I just heard the brakes,” she said.
