October is upon us, and that means it’s time to ring in the spooky.

It’s the time of ghosts, zombies, witches and skeletons.

It’s when mall food court goths obsess over Tim Burton movies that are older than they are — oh wait, they do that 365 days a year.

For me, it’s horror movies and the macabre. I can catch more episodes of Ghost Adventures, in which my favorite dudebro of all time, Zak Bagans, tries to pick fights with the dead.

I enjoy old slasher flicks. It’s a lost art. Now we rely on silly jump scares and found footage movies about invisible forces dragging people out of bed. Not that those don’t have their place, but you’d think they would run out of stories about the same bored ghost being a pest. It’s time for new stories.

That’s where you — our readers — come in.

We want you to send us your stories. These can be anything: local ghost stories, things you experienced, old legends, whatever you want.

Send your stories to (letters@sbnewspaper.com). Simply paste your story into the email and tell us your name and where you’re from. We want to run some of these for our Halloween feature. We only ask that you don’t send your submission as an attachment (for example, Word, Pages, Open Office, etc).

We will go through the stories and put together a feature compilation of the material we gather.

You don’t have to be Stephen King, but please do your best to write clearly.

It will make for that much better of a scare.

Send ‘em in, folks!
