Domingo H. Chavez, Jr., 65, of San Benito, Texas, entered into rest on July 8, 2014.
Domingo was born on August 21, 1948 to Delfina Huerta and Domingo Chavez, Sr. in Corpus Christi, Texas. He served in Vietnam from 1967-1968 with the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He was a police officer with the Brownsville Police Department, Deputy Sherriff for Cameron County and later became a private investigator. He was a good, generous soul and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughters, Adrianna Chavez and Maria Andrea Chavez.
He was survived by his wife of many years, Herlinda Chavez; his daughter, Catherine Chavez; and son Domingo Chavez III. Also surviving him are his siblings, Alma (Robert) Gonzalez and Gregorio Chavez; and granddaughter, Rebecca Calderon.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas. Full military honors will be conducted at graveside by American Legion John Hanson Post 43.

DAD I MISS YOU SO MUCH. I KNOW YOU ARE WITH JESUS NOW. I MISS GOING TO THE TRADERS VILLAGE HERE IN SAN ANTONIO. I’M SO GLAD GOD GAVE ME THE TIME TO SPEND WITH YOU BEFORE YOU HAD TO GO HOME. REMEMBER THE TIME I SAW YOU ON 37 BY CHANCE WHEN I LEFT ELMENDORF? THAT WAS GOD TELLING US TO SPEND MORE TIME TOGETHER. IM GLAD WE LISTENED. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ADVICE ALL OF THE LOVE AND ALL OF THE TIMES YOU SACRIFICED TO HELP ME AND BECCA.
May he reat in peace. I have fond memories of Mingo when we would chat about our Vietnam days. It seemed as if time just zipped by too fast. We had a lot of laughs of daily occurrences. Linda, Cathy and Ming III, my prayers for you as you greive his passing and may God bless you.
