The San Benito City Commission on Wednesday contracted legal services to represent the City in the matter of the malfunctioning $17 million water treatment plant.

In a special meeting held Wednesday, the Commission contracted Arnold and Itkin LLC, a Houston-based law firm, to advise the City during its assessment and pending action on the facility’s functionality. The amount in which the law firm will be compensated was not released as of presstime Friday.

Malfunctioning membrane filters have reportedly caused operational concerns at Water Treatment Plant No. 2, which for years has been hailed by officials as a state-of-the-art facility that cost $17 million to construct.

Everyone will rise to their level of incompetence. Way to go Jalomo. I’m sure that because of the extensive knowledge required for your position you surely must have made an educated decision when you gave the approval for a treatment plant that doesn’t treat. A multi-million dollar mistake that tax payers will have to cover. I’m sure things are great in the ivory tower.
