Lady ’Hounds hurler Castillo named 31-5A MVP

San Benito Lady ’Hounds junior hurler Crystal Castillo was recently recognized as the 31-5A All-District Most Valuable Player.

The success of the San Benito Lady ’Hounds softball team continues to make headlines even after being eliminated from playoff contention on May 17.

Nine players from this year’s “Sweet 16” Region 4 semi-finalist team were named to the 31-5A All-District squad, including junior (now senior) pitcher Crystal Castillo who was named the district’s Most Valuable Player.

Selections to the 31-5A team are as follows: Amber Jasso earned First Team for outfield, Cynthia Rodriguez earned First Team for infield, Alexis Cavazos earned First Team for designated player, Dorothy Millan earned Second Team for catcher, Melanie Gonzalez earned Second Team infield, Clarissa Huerta earned Second Team infield, Stephanie Contreras earned Second Team utility and Javana Gonzalez earned Honorable Mention.
