Flores takes first at nationals; SBCISD chess teams excel

The San Benito CISD Afterschool Program has once again exhibited a strong showing at the National Chess Tournaments, including one individual who earned a first place rating.

Frank Roberts Elementary, Rangerville Elementary, Fred Booth Elementary, Ed Downs Elementary, Dr. Garza Elementary and Dr. Cash Elementary competed at the 2014 National Elementary (K-6) Championship in Dallas on May 9-11. Miller Jordan Middle School and Berta Cabaza Middle School competed in the 2014 National Junior K-9 Championship in Atlanta, Georgia on April 25-27. San Benito High School competed at the 2014 National High School (K-12) Championships in San Diego, California on April 4-6.

Brandon Flores, a senior, won first place in his rating division.

    Brandon…so proud of you and how far you’ve gone with CHESS!!!!
