Hopefuls spend, rake in near $70k in contributions

moneyCandidates vying for public office in San Benito have received a combined total of $69,877.65 in political contributions and spent a whopping $75,428.22 on their campaigns, according to the second filing of campaign finance reports.

June Aguilera, Place 4 incumbent in the race for the SBCISD Board of the Trustees, reported political contributions of $2,348.92 in the period between April 11 and May 2, totaling $6,703.58 in contributions to her campaign thus far and an equal amount of expenditures. Aguilera also listed just one contributor, her father Jesus “Chuy” Aguilera who afforded the entirety of her reported contributions. Chuy Aguilera’s business, Chuy’s Custom Sports, was also where the candidate made all her political expenses.
