RIO HONDO – Twenty-six times the Rio Hondo Lady Bobcats have proven themselves this season; 22 times they did it consecutively. But it took just one victory to cement the team in Rio Hondo sports lore history.

With a 10-6 win Saturday over Carrizo Springs in Game 2 of a best-of-three series, Rio Hondo (26-5) secured its first ever trip to the regional quarterfinals. The Lady ’Cats took Game 1 on Friday in a nailbiting 11-10 victory.

Before winning an area championship against Carrizo Springs in a two-game sweep, Rio Hondo also swept Zapata for the bi-district crown, winning Game 1, 7-6, and Game 2, 4-3.
