February sales tax collections decline in San Benito

San Benito’s sales tax collections for the month of February experienced a near five-percent drop compared to data reported the year prior, according to Texas Comptroller figures.

According to the Comptroller’s April sales tax report, which represents February sales reported by monthly tax filers, San Benito’s collections dropped by 4.78 percent compared to 2013, from $345,488.13 to $328,953.82. Year-to-date figures also indicate a 1.65 percent decline in collections for San Benito from $1,321,588.88 to $1,299,676.68.

    Thank you Mr. Editor for continuing to publish these sales tax numbers. On another note, why not publish in your paper a photo of the ‘TRASH HEAP of the WEEK’ to highlight the ever growing uncontrolled trash, graffiti, and garbage that is a blight on our community. You might even find the City is responsible for some of the trash! The once-every election-year, politically-motivated ‘Trash Bash’ is not enough. Take the lead, SB News!
