It was called the event that almost didn’t happen. The Seventh Annual Autism Awareness Walk was held to a capacity crowd in San Benito on Saturday in observance of April being Autism Awareness Month.

The Seventh Annual Autism Awareness Walk was held on Friday, April 4, near the Resaca Heavin Trail to a capacity crowd.

April is National Autism Awareness Month, and in observance of NAAM many members of the community, vendors and clubs from San Benito High School donated their time to what has become an annual event.

“It went really great except for the weather,” said Maria Elena Tamez. “It was almost like a hurricane for a little while, [but] we did pretty well.”
