Rio Hondo still facing acts of rampant arson

RIO HONDO – Another case of arson was reported Thursday in the Rio Hondo area as a storage shed and barn were burned to the ground just outside the city limits.

Cameron County Emergency Management Coordinator Humberto Barrera said on Friday that he is uncertain of the exact number of arson-related fires investigated by his department, but he did estimate at least 14 to 17 such cases reported in the Rio Hondo area since January.
