San Benito News

Hound logoAnd just like that, San Benito CISD has a new consultation firm to head up the search for an athletic director and head football coach.

During a special meeting on Monday, Feb. 3, the SBCISD Board of Trustees approved via a 4-3 vote Jacksonville, Texas-based Champions Consulting to assist with the hiring process. The district will pay the firm a one-time flat rate of $10,000—$9,000 for services and $1,000 for additional expenses—to help narrow down a list of 16 applicants.

The San Benito News is currently awaiting the district’s response to a request for a copy of the list of applicants.

So this board is paying $10,000 so a firm can recommend 3 top names? Can’t this interim superintendent not read a resume? I know he can as he is well respected in the educational world if only that lady would let him do the job. Then they are going to offer someone over $105,000 just watch. Board relatives can not just stop talking!
Getting really tried of those board members throwing our children’s money to suit those board members.
Please remember to go vote in May… this community deserves better!

The question is what is the price tag for the SCHOOL BOARD to call the shots and put blame on another if this Head Coach that is hired fails miserably which will probably happen. San Benito football fans be prepared for the wrong person to be hired as the new Footbal Coach and don’t put blame on the coach put blame where it belongs the people that have no idea how to run or are qualified to run a district…The board is not the end all to any decisions they are in place to immplement school policies not hire a football coach….HIRE A SUPERINTENDENT and that person will do the rest…the boared needs to approve the budget, school calendars, and tax rates everything else leave to quialified Administrators. Please do not say that school board memebers are politicians acting like a politician adn being one are two different things..Although the SB board acts very poilitical they are not….

*Once again THIS BOARD has decided to spend WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A COACH CONSULTING FIRM. *Give me a break…
    *$10,000…
*How about $10,000 for student educational field trips?
*Academics continue to take a back seat to this board.
*Only one board member has talked about academics for the past two years and it is not and I repeat not the one who is an elementary principal… go figure that one out.
*Let us NOT FORGET THAT MANY OF THESE BOARD MEMBERS DO NOT PAY TAXES TO THIS DISTRICT NOR CITY.
*Don’t even say that that is not important because it is even if it is not a requirement to run for school board.
*When they continue to use the district funds for THEIR OWN AGENDAS, then you can bet WE are going to express ourselves.
*It is not the function of the board to run the day to day operations of the district.
*They all need to go back to School Board Training 101.
*Anyone with an administrator certificate would know that……

  2. All I care about is that the new coach get the players on the charter bus and travel to Houston to scrimmage a live game with the Katy Tigers. Coach? What players get to go? The coach should respond with the famous lines from actor Gary Oldman in the film The Professional ” EveryOne” !!!!!

    So basically……….

Rusty wanted to pick the new AD/HC.
Board wanted him to recommend 3 and Board pick from there.
    Insert political favors here.
Meaning that the Board could make the decision.
If something bad were to happen down the road they could always blame the consultant.
    Rusty took his smarties.
    Board didn’t.
    Rusty out.
    Board looked for new consultant.
    Insert political favors here.
    Settled for Champions.
They will hire based on the 3 recommended by Champions.
Board will sit and stroke their ego in the process of making a hire as the 3 smootch smootch the Board.
    Insert political favors here.
Board doesn’t have to do any of the hard work.
    Board wins either way.
    June especially wins either way.
She can say she was trying to save money when she campaigns.
She and the rest of Board still have a vote after recommendation is made.
    Insert political favors here
    Boom!
    New AD/HC in pocket.
    Elections around the corner.
June tries her best to win.
    Insert political favors here.
    SBN stories off the hook!
    SBN comments off the hook!
    Board elections pass.

I wonder why one board member’s reason is for holding out and not wanting a consultant which would be the fairest and logical decision to make considering all the politics from the past year with the Board. Well at least 6 of them are agreeing.

Why spend the money! Just have the board president narrow down the list. I am sure she can hand pick the next coach that will take the greyhounds to the promise land. Oh well it is only 10K. Why not pay Chuy the 10k. I am sure Chuy is able to pick the next head coach. He can do that on his spare time when he is not busy with the police department or the other departments he helps the board president micromanage.
