More questions are being raised about the fire that consumed a house on Franklin Street in San Benito.
The fire, which occurred on Sunday, Jan. 19, is being investigated as a possible case of arson. There have also been reports indicating a number of burglaries occurring on the same street, all within a 24-hour time span of when the fire was reported.
“There was a police officer that came up to me and just remarked that he had been in the area about 15 or 20 minutes earlier taking a police report on someone on Franklin [Street] that had also reported a break in,” said Hector Avila, who lives next door to the unoccupied house that caught fire and was present at the scene.
