Officials and cadets of the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Justice Center are seen breaking ground on the construction of a new vocational center in San Benito.

Ground was broken on Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Justice Center in San Benito for the construction of a new vocational center on the property.

“Once it’s completed, it’ll have two big classrooms where we’ll do the teaching of all the different vocations,” explained Tommy Ramirez, Chief Executive Officer of the Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department. “We’ll be having some partnership contracts with some instructors, some from TSTC (Texas State Technical College) and some from the local community.”
