Public encouraged to get flu vaccine

Officials with the Cameron County Health Department are encouraging the public to get vaccinated for influenza if they haven’t already. Vaccines remain in supply throughout the the county.

Local officials are encouraging citizens to get vaccinated in order to prevent the spread of the influenza virus.

While a slight increase in influenza cases has been reported in the Valley, Raquel Castillo, Public Health Preparedness Director for the Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services, said that H1N1 cases are not necessarily among those reported to her department.
