Citizens unite to form new chamber

A movement in San Benito to form a new chamber of commerce is gaining steam, thanks in large part to the efforts of several businessmen and community members.

A group of merchants and representatives of various organizations and entities, including the City of San Benito and the Rotary Club of San Benito, met Friday, Nov. 1, to discuss various options in the establishing of a new chamber of commerce in town. The catch: It’ll be completely separate from the defunct San Benito Chamber of Commerce, which has been inactive for over a year following the nullification of its tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service for failing to file IRS Form 990 tax reports.

I WISH THESE FOLKS THE BEST OF LICK. SAN BENITO NEEDS TO COME TOGETHER INSTEAD OF FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER. THIS CITY HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL AND A UNIFIED CITY WILL HELP TO ENSURE THAT WE RISE TO THE HEIGHTS SAN BENITO REACHED IN THE FIFTIES. I HAVE HEARD SO MANY STORIES ABOUT THE DYNAMIC TOWN SAN BENITO USED TO BE. IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE SAN BENITO RISE AGAIN.
