Roman Abeyta, an epidemiologist for the Cameron County Health Department, said he’ll be asking people to show their vaccination card before they come in contact with his soon-to-be-born child, a precautionary measure he believes is necessary.
Consider that 61 cases of whooping cough, or pertussis, were reported this year, which is up from 22 reported in 2012, Abeyta said Thursday.
