Charges against the driver of a vehicle which killed a San Benito CISD school bus driver have been upgraded to include murder.

Felipe Sanchez Jr., 21, was initially charged with intoxication manslaughter for driving the vehicle that claimed the life of Juan Luis Espinoza in the early morning hours of Friday, Feb. 22. The Cameron County District Attorney’s Office, however, has now upgraded the charge to murder.

  1. There should be a law where you can no longer sell alcohol in grocery stores or convince stores. Only at liquor stores. Make it harder to buy and make it real expensive so people can no longer afford it. Bring the legal age to drink alcohol from 21 to 25. Learn to drink responsibly and respectfully . Enjoy a good ice cold tequila or scotch whiskey to relax and the more expensive the better. Theses cheap beers are to affordable and can be more intoxicating then whiskey or a nice gin. Beer after beer after beer after beer just does not very wise.

I think that’s what they said about cigarettes and I’ve heard everyone say that they’re expensive, but they still keep buying them. Instead of commercials showing everyone having a good time drinking beer, maybe they should also show what happens after you drink too many beers. Something like a terrible car accident with dead bodies everywhere and then the stupid drunk sitting on death row. Why death row? Because drinking and driving with cause of death should be more of a STATE FELONY than using a car without permission.

The way that the law is written and interpreted in Texas is that if a person causes the death of someone while committing a felony, the person causing the death can be charged with murder. Negligent homicide or intoxication manslaughter charges are normally filed for a traffic accident that causes death if the operator of the motor vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the accident. My understanding is that this individual was driving the vehicle without permission, leading to a state feeling charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. I’m not an attorney and no, I don’t agree with a charge of murder, but that is the law.

I feel sorry for both families, the one thing I dont get is why upgrade from intoxication manslaughter to murder? I’m not defending this guy, but it’s not like he planned to murder someone that day. They should of left it the way it was, his life is already ruined.
