WEB EXCLUSIVE: County to continue distributing sand, empty sandbags

Cameron County will be making available sand and empty sandbags for county residents to fill today until 7:00 PM at its County Precinct Warehouse Barns in Brownsville, San Benito, and Harlingen.

Each vehicle will be allowed to pick up six (6) sandbags. Businesses are being allowed ten (10) bags. Residents are encouraged to bring their own shovels to expedite the process and decrease long waiting periods.

“We continue to monitor the rain effects of Tropical Storm Ingrid,” County Judge Carlos H. Cascos stated, “Our crews continue sandbagging operations at our county precincts while other crews are spanning across the County, monitoring potential flooding areas.”

Below are the county precinct locations for sand and empty sandbag distribution:

Precinct 1 & 2

3243 E. 14th St. (Brownsville)

Precinct 3

FM 510 and San Jose Ranch Rd. (San Benito)

Precinct 4

201 N Teague St. (Harlingen)
