First Los Indios mayor dies at 79

LOS INDIOS – Diamantina “Tina” Bennett, former mayor of the City of Los Indios, died on Monday, Sept. 9 at the age of 79.

Bennett served as Los Indios’ first mayor from 1994 until her retirement in 2010 due to health reasons, according to a city press release.

Mayor Pro-tem Sal Mendoza, who served on the Board of Aldermen for approximately eight years, recalled his time serving with Bennett.
