Gone with a residence located on the 200 block of East Robertson Street in San Benito are the concerns that had become associated with the property for years.

On Thursday, a City of San Benito crew demolished the house after many reports were filed with the city’s Code Enforcement Department and the San Benito Police Department consisting of suspected drug activity and suspicious individuals who have been seen frequenting the area.

Yes, and we should all just be giddy that our old engineer is coming back. NOT! The more things change, the more they remain the same.

  1. Hum I wonder who owned the property and and taxes had been paid.

  2. San Benito’s administration team is now working together to bring progress to town . I have noticed no more fiascos and progress fixing streets and maybe the start of removing abandoned houses and buildings. Working on Market Days advertising to bring more vendors and to the more noticeable Southwest Key Program and the future Power Plant to bring more jobs to town. If the place is taking up space market the location for housing or business.

I agree, HoJo. There are positive steps being taken and it’s good to see. Personally, although I don’t have inside information just observation, I credit Mr. Salomon Torres for much of the progress being made. He has brought with him a fresh perspective from his years of experience elsewhere. Slowly he is making a difference and waking SB from its stagnation. Clearly he has a vision and recognizes the untapped potential of SB. It won’t hurt any, either, that he now reports directly to the EDC board and city commission. Peeling back layers in bureaucracy is always a positive.

It had been a long time coming…SBPD had known for a couple of years about these dwellings and the (alleged) criminals who would come and go from there were being recruited as sniches to make their jobs easier.
