Mauro T. Barrera, 82, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on August 21, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mauro was a humble and hard working man who was very dedicated to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and he will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Mauro is survived by his wife, Odilia G. Barrera; eight children: Emilio Barrera, Jose Luis (Sonia) Barrera, Maria De Lourdes Munoz, Mauro Alberto Barrera, Rosa Esthela Diaz, Gavino (Tammie) Barrera, Luis Alberto (Celina) Barrera, and Lorena Aleida Barrera. Also surviving him are his 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation was held on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.

Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
