RIO HONDO – As the Rio Hondo Independent School District (RHISD) is preparing for the first day of curriculum, the 2013-2014 school year has already produced many changes.

“There are a couple of things that are different from last year,” said Superintendent of Schools Ismael Garcia. “First of all, we’re having a week long in-service, or staff development for our teachers which covers various topics. The other thing that is different is that we are working a lot on vertical and horizontal alignment for curriculum. We’re allowing our campuses to have more planning time to align their curriculum vertically, which means from one campus to the other. That’s the biggest thing.”
