The San Benito City Commission unanimously approved a resolution on Tuesday to relocate the Museums of San Benito pending the awarding of a grant.

“There is a property that we, the EDC (Economic Development Corporation) is looking at potentially purchasing if we get awarded a grant,” said EDC Executive Director Salomon Torres. “This would be a potential location for the museum.”

comment update I was in my house and I hear tractors and heavy machinery outside and I say yes they are here fixing my street finally. Well low and behold the are fixing a street named Morelos this street had been reconstructed about 10 years ago no holes no patches one of the best streets in the neighborhood and these people are tearing it up to repave it. I ask one of the city employees why they where repairing the street that didnt need repairing and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I called city hall and spoke with street management Hector Jalomo and he had no answer to or reason for working on that street. Well after the call with Mr. no answers I called mike at San Benito news to try and find out something about wasting grant money on streets with no issues and he said he would call me back. Another thing when I ask Mr.Jalomo if my street was on the list for repairs Diaz street he said no because it is a concrete street wow I thought all streets were made of some kind of concrete I think city management need to get in their cars or city vehicles and drive around and see conditions of street before the start any repairs and see what streets really need repairs.Diaz st is a high traffic area one street that is non stop traffic through out the day it is near the dumb trail and dumb parks that they stop building because of other issues I have lived on Diaz st for over 40 year and they have never repaved this street they just waste money patching it every month yes every month with all the patch material the have used they could have paved the street. Stop wasting tax payer money and fix our streets .

It is my understanding that local tax dollars are supposed to be spent for fixing the streets. Didn’t the City recently pass a multi-million dollar bond to fix streets? Maybe we need less City administration and managers so we can have more street fixers?
As I understand the grant, the monies are Federal dollars to be spent on a specific purpose, and can’t be used for something else. So to say, ‘make a park’ or ‘fix the streets’ with this particular grant is a bit naive.
