SAN BENITO—Celia T. Plata, 84, was called to the Lord’s presence on July 3, 2013. Celia was born on August 16, 1928.
Celia was a lifelong resident of San Benito and retired as a teacher from the San Benito School District.
Celia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her lifelong partner, Jesus “Chito” Plata, of 64 years; two daughters, Belinda Perez, Edna Amaya (Eddie) and son, Eliud Plata (Mindy); brother, Raul Trevino, sister-in-law Raquel Trevino; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two daughters, Molly Bledsoe and Delia Stoddard, brother, Samuel Trevino; sister, Bertha Montemayor, and uncle David Trevino, who was like a father to her.
Pallbearers are Armando Avila, Javier Avila, Carlos Valdez III, Matthew Plata, Michael Plata and David Trevino.
Honorary pallbearers are Marianela Valdez, Jackie Rouff, Christopher Stoddard, Priscilla Briones, Delia Collins and Amanda Rodriguez.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Henry Thomae Funeral Home Chapel at 701 N. Bowie, San Benito. Burial to follow to Monte Meta Memorial Park.
