Board to address clinic provider’s tax delinquency

SBCISDMembers of the San Benito CISD Board of Trustees want answers on an Internal Revenue Service Notice of Levy that was issued to the school district regarding its on-site clinic’s provider owing nearly $60,000 in delinquent taxes.

The notice dated May 2013 states that ISD Managed Care Services Inc., a Port Isabel company owned and operated by Richard Garza and that serves as the school district’s on-site health clinic provider, owes $59,900.92 to the IRS in unpaid taxes – that’s $5,378.24 for the tax period ending June 30, 2012; $18,457.12 for the tax period ending Sept. 30, 2012; and $36,065.56 for the tax period ending Dec. 31, 2012.

Although a lien has not been placed on San Benito CISD the IRS plans on deducting the $59,000 and change from future payments the district will make to Garza. “This is not a bill for taxes you owe,” the notice read. “This is a notice of levy we are using to collect money owed by the taxpayer named above (ISD Managed Care Services).”

But Garza insisted on Tuesday that the delinquent taxes have already been “addressed” and awaits word from the IRS for corroboration.

“I’m in the process of getting a letter from the IRS stating that it’s an old subject, an old topic that has already been addressed, and showing that I’m in good standing,” Garza said. “Once I have the letter it’s a dead issue.”

The issue, however, remains very much alive in the mind of board member Oscar Medrano, who has suggested closing the on-site clinic and seeking bids to find another provider if the matter goes unresolved.

Another smooth move by the rocket scientists in residence at the SBCISD board of mis-directors aka known as ‘the gang of four’. I go back to what another poster said months ago: Vote stupid, get stupid.
    Duh.

Sounds like this RICHARD GARZA wants us to believe he actually paid the IRS?? Someone should look more into this individual and find out if he’s telling the truth and where did he come up with $60, 000???!! Nobody has that kind of money. Hhhmmm????

well written story; The INSURANCE CONSULtANT does not speak for the ELECTED BOARD OF TRUSTEES. Someone should remind him of that; Isn’t he the same man that THE RISK MANAGER WAS SEEN MEETING AT A LOCAL DINER during THE MRS. RODRIGUEZ “I can change insurance agent” Mess.
Makes you wonder who is in charge around SBCISD?
Oh that’s right … the FOUR BOARD MEMBERS WHO WENT TO DALLAS/FT. WORTH AND RENTED BIG CARS FOR THEIR FAMILIES TO GO TO THE TASB CONFERENCE. Pictures are worth every moment.
    ALL on SB Taxpayers money!
I hope all of the SB is reading and watching because come August there will be less and less money for the kids.
Like someone said earlier “all for the kids”… yeah right
