Elections graphicRIO HONDO – Things are getting a little interesting in Rio Hondo.

Longtime Rio Hondo ISD School Board President Noemi Garza, who has served on the board for 20 years, is set to face newcomer Arnold Martinez Jr. for the Place 3 post.

And neither agrees on much.

With so much at stake, including the hiring of a new superintendent, this particular race appears to be of substantial significance.

“I believe that we all have God-given talents that can be used to make a difference,” said Garza in a prepared statement. “For me, it is serving the children of Rio Hondo ISD. I am grateful that the voters of Rio Hondo have given me the opportunity to serve as board trustee these past 20 years. It is precisely this experience that benefits our district, because just like any corporation the more experience and proven leadership you have at the top the better its stability and success.”
