emergency-lightsTraffic was backed up for approximately 30 minutes after a vehicle rolled over on the northbound lane of Expressway 83 near McCullough Street in San Benito on Monday.

According to Detective Rogelio Banda Jr. of the San Benito Police Department, the accident occurred just before 8 a.m. and involved a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer.

“Apparently the driver lost control and hit the median and rolled over,” said Banda. “The driver claimed that another vehicle cut him off. We’re still working on trying to piece everything together.”

According to Banda, the 31-year-old driver suffered non-lethal injuries and was transported to a hospital in Harlingen.

“He didn’t have any life-threatening injuries,” Banda said of the 32-year-old driver. “We suspect that speed was a factor that contributed to the accident.”
