JV track places third at competition

HoundsWESLACO – The San Benito High School boys’ junior varsity track team performed well at the District 31-5A meet held at Bobby Lackey Stadium on Thursday.

At the meet, JC Hernandez, Anthony Noyola, Jesse Ibanez and Javier Ortiz competed in the 400 meter relay and placed third with a time of 46.31. Alejandro Torres ran a time of 2.24.12 in the 800 meter run.

Jordan Robles placed third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.75 while Frank Lucio placed sixth with a time of 21.24. Competing in the 100 meter dash was Chris Sanchez who ran a time of 12.55, Jesse Ibanez who ran a time of 12.76 and Jerry Segundo with a time of 13.26.

Eduardo Romero, JC Hernandez, Anthony Noyola and Javier Ortiz placed second in the 800 meter relay with a time of 1.36.36. Placing first in the 400 meter dash was Eduardo Romero with a time of 55.65 while Marcy Carrizales ran a time of 57.89 and Benito Cavazos clocked in at 61.84.

Jordan Robles placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.40 and Frank Lucio finished at 48.85. Anthony Noyola placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.34 while Chris Sanchez ran a time of 25.73 and Jerry Segundo hit it at 26.61.

Alejandro Torres ran a time of 5.39.54 in the 1600 meter run. Eduardo Romero, Marcy Carrizales, Javier Ortiz and JC Hernandez placed second in the 1600 meter relay with a time of 3.45.29.

The team, coached by Rolando Casas, placed third with a total of 73 points.
