BREAKING: Trustees recommend reinstating Janie Gonzalez

NEWS Staff Report

gavel

The San Benito CISD Board of Trustees voted Tuesday evening to recommend reinstating embattled risk-manager Janie Gonzalez after she was terminated this summer by Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón.

Limón fired Gonzalez on August 23 for allegedly lying about communication with insurance vendors which School Board President Yliana G. Rodriguez attempted to award district policies via a now infamous letter.

The letter in question was signed by Rodriguez in May and prepared by Gonzalez at the board president’s behest, the reinstated risk manager has claimed.

The recommendation to reinstate Gonzalez, which will be decided upon by the superintendent, came at a Level IV grievance hearing held in open session during a regular board meeting Tuesday night. Full details of the meeting, in which Gonzalez’s grievance hearing was one of four addressed, will be reported in the weekend edition of the San Benito News.

Details, Taxpayer, I am sure Ms Gonzalez was good at her job. She wasn’t terminated 4 Job performance issues, it was strictly a misconduct issue. The emails exchanged between her & vendor are there. Oliver North knows all 2 well emails do not get erased from mainframe just because u hit the Delete button. When asked if there was communication between her & vendor, she replied none whatsoever. She misrepresented facts, thus the Misconduct issue. Crystallized?

@denny it is called an analogy. How do you know she lied. If she did lie well then it’s safe to say there are reprecussions. You don’t know the truth though so for people to say “don’t reinstate her” or “she needs to stay fired” you need to realize mr Limon said she lied. This is a He said she said kind of thing. Till we find out the truth or if ever because of the politics in the San Benito school district, this will all boil down and you people will have something else to hate about. Stop being haters and focus on you instead of trying to ruin the district even more. If ya think about it, has there been any job openings ? Why leave a school district without a risk manager?

Do you know the details as to what she lied about? Fill us in. I don’t think you have a clue, you’re just repeating some lame accusations by the
superintedent to have Janie removed so he and his counterpart could do what they want in the best interest of themselves and not the district. If it is about the so called letter she was given a directive to write and later was dissmissed and had no bearing on anything. Is that the best he could do??No signed contracts , money exchange or benefits. E-mails that led to what????? Come on. So instead of ragging on Janie fill us in on some concrete info. Her bragging on her Mercedez, rejecting cafteria employees, being chocante, being untouchable, and where did you come up with the 40% number. Give me and everyone else some info on how she fails to do her job. I don’t think you have what it takes. All reputable people I talk to have nothing but good to say about Janie. She goes by the book and does what is right and in the best interest of the district and it’s employees. So whoever is right…. The righteous shall prevail… Bring it…La Girlfriend…I know your vocabulary is limited but come on with it.

RE: Don’t hate the player hate the game……..

This is not a “game”, it is “real life”.

Somebody once said “People make mistakes – they say things they shouldn’t have or didn’t necessarily mean. But I strongly believe in consequences. If there are none, someone might feel like they’ve gotten away with something, or that what they said couldn’t have been that bad.”

Actions have consequences despite your job tenure or passion for your job. It is time to pay the piper……

I am still puzzled at the four board members who voted to reinstate Mrs. Gonzalez. Based on the emails, this should have been a 7-0 vote. The other question is why didn’t Mrs. Rodriguez recuse herself from the hearing? It was obvious she was involved and should have not been part of the hearing. What remains to be seen is if Mr. Limon will make the right decision and not bring Mrs. JGonzalez back. I feel for Mrs. Gonzalez, but everyone should be held accountable especially when you have been with the district for 18 years. Last but not least, how is the school board president going to be held accountable for all this fiasco? When is the board going to strip her from her title? I’ve been a taxpayer and citizen of San Benito all my life and I believe Mrs. Rodriguez should also be held accountable and tell the citizens of San Benito the truth. Otherwise she should step down from the board. I really believe Mrs. Rodriguez knew more than what she is saying and probably still deals with these vendors. If so, she has crossed the line of ethics and should be removed from the board. I hope Ms. Aguilera, Mr. Huerta, Mrs. Huerta, Ms. Cruz, Mr. Leal and Mr. Medrano understand that President Rodriguez did wrong and should also be held accountable. This is my two cents worth.

      good point.

its a shame this hasn’t been addressed already. some say this, some say that. rumors are everywhere. one i have heard over and over is that nothing has been done against her in fear that those who would like to seek action and her ousted might have their own skeletons exposed at the cost of exposing hers. there might be some truth to this. there might not be. the fact that nothing has happened says a lot about the school board in general. win or lose, in or out, its a sad scenario to be in. whether right or wrong, this is a huge black eye for the SBCISD and San Benito citizens.

“I’ve heard in many reports that Janie has had many job offering and they still are there for her according to sources.”

I’ve heard, reportedly, according to sources, that SHE LIED TO THE SUPER AND SENT EMAILS.

This continues to go back and forth, yet everyone that supports J. Gonzalez, and they have every right to, still haven’t justified what she did and given good enough reason to why she should be reinstated.

In reply to: Don’t hate the player hate the game
“Janie wants her job back “la girlfriend” cause she’s is passionate about the San Benito school district and she loves the people she works for.”

She is passionate about her job? Loves the people she works for? Where is the passion and love in LYING AND SENDING THE EMAIL(S)?

In reply to: Don’t hate the player hate the game
“So you need to get your facts straight…”

So to every supporter of J. Gonzalez, I ask again: Did she lie? Did she send the email(s)? If so, please justify why she should be reinstated.

    J. Gonzalez supporters out there are throwing the “get your facts straight” card left and right, yet still can’t justify her actions and justify her being allowed back to work. It’s been posted repeatedly in this comment/reply section of this article but “facts” and justification have yet to be presented in regards to this matter.

Janie has been working for the school district for 18 years, I’m sure the people that have negative comments and have so much hate for Janie are obviously jealous she has held a demanding position for that long. As a matter a fact I’m sure at least 10 percent in this blog room including “la girlfriend” has never held a position that long. Don’t hate on this lady that has impacted so many lives through out her years of becoming one of the best risk managers in the south area. Janie wants her job back “la girlfriend” cause she’s is passionate about the San Benito school district and she loves the people she works for. I’ve heard in many reports that Janie has had many job offering and they still are there for her according to sources. So you need to get your facts straight before you start expressing your envious opinion to a hard working lady. Last but not least I’m sure there is a very good explanation to you not getting treated equally “la girlfriend”, you seem obnoxious and unknowledgable about the situation and I’m sure you won’t ever get a position like Janie’s. You wouldn’t be qualified. From what I see on your posts it looks like you have hate towards people that get under your skin and can’t let go. Which is fine. That’s why the’re phycologists. Just for advice Don’t respond you will make yourself look even worse.

Elijah, you definitely aren’t included in the good people of San Benito, stop making your useless remarks if you don’t know the true facts, which however, the good ole Superintendent has always had knowledge of, yet it was not to his corrupted advantage.

Voice of reason, this an open blog where we are lucky to have the San Benito News allow us to express our opinions. Thank you San Benito News…however, you have had your say so and I have had mine. If the truth hurts, then so be it. If you wish not to accept that Janie lied and was caught as the emails tell us, then that is your problem voice of reason. Janie Gonzalez is NOT one of the best risk managers in the area. If she were, why would she desperately want her job back? Where are all the districts lined up to hire her? Where are they? I am sorry voice of reason, but Janie must be held accountable just like anybody else. And yes, these are serious issues. These are issues that affected all of us who worked with this women…who you call the best in the area. We all should be treated equally at SBCISD. And Janie is no exception. I hope one day she admits the truth and moves on. You should too voice of reason. Sleep well….The truth sure hurts!

This blog was airing out some pretty good relevant issues on both side until you reared your ulgy opinion.

For some reason you have some serious issues going on with Janiethat are personal in nature, It would be nice if you keep it to yourself.

Many people in the Valley regard her as one of the best risk managers in the Area and she should have been meeting with Adrian and Mr, Hyliar behind closed doors this was a big enough mess as it is, and it takes hours and days to do a review of this magnitude. Nothing was kept from Mr. Limon or the board as I have previosly explained in detail, but something tells me nothing would make any difference to you……..

PIA (public information act) allows public to make up their own minds. Emails are all there. She was thinking they were erased, maybe. It is hard to dispute solid evidence that she lied. The SBNews did a great job in getting the evidence out for the public to decide.

The truth is that Janie Gonzalez was caught lying and deserved to be fired. She would walk around the administration building thinking she was untouchable with her buddies Glenn Hyliar, Adrian Garcia, Teresa Cantu and others and bragged to everyone about her new Mercedes Benz. Many times I had to tell her why she was so “chocante” and snobish to everyone. Many many times I would see her meet with vendors in closed doors and out eating lunch with them too. When it was time for enrollment, she was never available to address the issues of our employees and when she did she was very rude to them and ugly. One time she told a cafeteria worker in front of me “I don’t have time for you! Make an appointment and come back in three weeks!”, she said. I was shocked but not surprised that Janie would talk to our employees that way. But if it were her buddies she would spend all the time in the world with them and gossiped with them like there was no tomorrow. I witnessed how Janie would work 40% of her time and the other was wondering the building or out of her office. When all this scandal went down, I knew something was up because her and Hyliar were meeting on a daily basis and secrecy. I hope Mr. Limon does not reinstate her because if he does the entire business office will go down. Mr. Limon needs to find a new Risk Manager and cut his losses. Janie is not worth keeping.

I bet J. Gonzalez is loving the fact that the readers and comments/replies are more concerned with insurance mumbo jumbo, politics, he said she said, Limon this, Chuy that instead of the fact that she sent emails and lied.

    Y. Rodriguez is probably too.

If, I repeat, IF, we do not have all the facts at hand, then shame on every SBCISD official that is involved with this (from the Super to every school board member and everyone involved in between). Whether on the right side or wrong side of this ordeal, shame on them. Everybody deserves the truth. Innocent parties deserve the truth. The citizens of San Benito deserve the truth. Have the integrity and morals to expose and tell the truth, whether legal or not. Because when the smoke clears and the dust settles, the truth shall set you free. The truth will justify itself. There is no need to cover your name, hide behind a lawyer, or play he said she said. There is no need to hide from the truth. Unless, of course, you aren’t telling the truth. Hmmm…

    That’s the OBJECTIVE truth.

    Richard,

I agree with what you have said about the plan not have been proven, as there is no way to do it, untill after you are finished with the plan year. I can tell you that from what I know and have seen It will work…..but I hope we get a chance to see some day.

As far as comission that is 100% correct it is sop and part of life, but the insurance market is evr evolving and many districts deem this an uneessary expense in today market.

We do all know right from wrong, and the bad thing about Mrs. Gonzalez case is we don’t have all the facts at hand to look at. And to be honest we have credibility issues on so many levels I would be remiss to comment either way until I have all the facts at hand.
