David Rangel, Sr.

David RangelDavid Rangel, Sr. was born on November 16, 1955 at 56 years of age. David Rangel showed no fear as he took his last breath and joined our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 5, 2012 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his father Tomas Rangel, mother Margarita Lazos, and brother Tomas Rangel Jr.

He is survived by his companion, Martha Rangel; five children: Marco Rangel (Bianca), David Rangel Jr., Chris Rangel, Maria Garcia (Gerardo), and Lupita Fonseca (Ruben); seven grandchildren: Angelina, Ruben, Sammy, Elizabeth, Jerry (Kim), Stephanie, and Armando; six sisters: San Juana Casanova (Juan), Maria Rangel, Sylvia Garza, Benita Jackson, Petra Galvan, Joann Medrano (Gerardo) and one brother: Martin (Irma) Rangel, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved unselfishly.

David was a high spirited man earlier in his life. He worked hard to support his mother and siblings through various jobs in his youth. On November 24, 1990, he married Martha Rangel. David and his new family traveled to Bastrop, Texas where he worked on a pecan grove plantation for many years. David was a handyman around his home, but his only passion was fishing. Every opportunity David had, would only lead him to the back roads of Rio Hondo, San Jose, or Los Fresnos to his famous fishing spots. He loved the outdoors, but most importantly, his last passion was the Lord Jesus Christ.

David became a Christian in the last years of his life. He was a devoted member of the VICC in San Benito. Every opportunity he had, David would be sharing his experience that converted him into Christianity. His view in life changed drastically as his personal relationship with Jesus Christ blossomed. His wish was to touch everyone’s life with the Word of the Lord.

A special thanks to the many doctors that helped David throughout his journey: Dr. Jason Phillips, Dr. Laura Cisneros, the Hospitalist group at the Valley Baptist Medical Center (Dr. Tapia, Dr. Najera, Dr. Manuel Lopez and Dr. Balderas). To all the nursing staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center on 3rd ST PCCU and 4th ST Oncology Unit; thank you for your hard work and dedication, helping David feel comfortable during his hospitalization. Thank you Odyssey Hospice and all the nurses who went out of their way to take care of David at his residence, (Leo, Gloria, Fernando, Louise, Dan and Helen).
