Officers from the San Benito Police Department arrested two females on Saturday accused of smuggling 75 pounds of marijuana.
The officers were notified of the incident at 8:25 p.m., when U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents informed SBPD authorities that they had two females detained at the Gateway Bridge in Brownsville for the alleged crime.
According to CBP agents, the two females, identified as 21-year-old Monica Gamez of San Benito and 28-year-old Beatrice Rodriguez of Los Fresnos, were under inspection at 6 p.m. in a green 1999 Honda four-door that displayed Texas license plates.
