Pedro Carranza will be recognized at the 8:00 a.m. mass on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos. Viewing will be held after the service at the family residence.
Mr. Carranza, 72, of Los Fresnos, Texas, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Olmstead Medical Hospital in Rochester, MN with his family at bedside.
Pedro was born March 22, 1940 in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Victor and Antonia Carranza Reyes. On February 17, 1958, he married Francisca Hernandez at Nuestra Senora Guadalupe Church in Matamoros, Mexico.
Pedro first started working in the United States on a large dairy farm (Hygeia) for over 19 years and later retired as a custodian at San Benito High School where he worked from 1995-2008.
He is survived by his loving wife, five daughters (Magdalena Carranza, Rochester, Minn., Patricia Mayorga, St. Charles, Minn.; Teresa Carranza, Ft. Worth, TX; Maria Gonzalez, San Antonio, TX; and Rocio Zepeda, Rochester, Minn.) and his three sons (Juan Hernandez, St. Charles, Minn.; Victor Carranza, San Benito, TX; and Jose “Joe” Carranza, San Antonio, TX); 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one daughter (Maria D. Carranza) and one sister (Maria Mercedez Garcia).
Pedro loved listening to music while doing the “honey-do chores.” He was a great husband, father and friend to many, always going out of his way to help others in need. He will be dearly missed, but will forever be in our hearts.
