A man charged with sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl and harboring her as a runaway has been placed under arrest following his confession, according to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department.
Noel Gonzalez, 26, of San Benito was arrested Tuesday, May 1 after deputies were notified that he had allegedly been engaging in sexual relations with the underage girl.
Authorities reported that the 12 year old ran away from her Benito Avenue home, but not before the grandmother managed to retrieve the girl’s cell phone and hand it over to authorities. Text messages found on the cell then confirmed the girl’s whereabouts.
