The City of San Benito has released a list of attorney applicants who responded to officials’ request for qualifications (RFQs).
According to City Secretary Lupita Passement, there were four firms that submitted qualifications. Among those turning in qualifications were former San Benito Mayor Ricardo Morado of Roerig, Olivera, and Fisher, L.L.P., Janice Cassidy, Rick Navarro, and Eddie Lucio III.
As previously reported by the News, the deadline for city attorney applicants to submit their qualifications to the City of San Benito was Friday, Dec. 31. At the time that the story was published, there had only been one application submitted to the city.
This comes after Place 2 City Commissioner Rene Villafranco made a motion to seek qualifications for city attorneys during a commission meeting in November. Voting in favor were Mayor Jack Garcia and Place 1 City Commissioner Tony Gonzales.
