The legal firm of Goggan, Blair and Sampson, LLP will again collect delinquent taxes for San Benito, contingent upon approval of an agreement by the city’s attorney.
The firm reported that “the delinquent tax collection program for the city continues to place emphasis on working with individual taxpayers to collect taxes owed and to keep the tool of litigation as a final option.”
Included in the two-year contract, which would become effective Jan. 1, 2011, the firm will oversee the collection of delinquent property taxes, penalty and interest owed to the City at a rate of 15 percent of the collected amount. City commissioners approved the agreement on Dec. 14.
