The 60th Annual San Benito Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade did more than bring joy and entertainment to the citizens of San Benito and the surrounding area, it created memories and traditions.

This year’s parade once again attracted hundreds to Sam Houston Boulevard as local families and their Winter Texan friends lined up downtown for a chance to see Santa Claus. The theme for the parade this year was 1970’s disco.

“I came to watch the parade for my birthday,” said Eddie Schneider, who was sitting in the back of a pick-up truck.  Schneider, a resident of San Benito, celebrated his 80th birthday this month. “I have been coming to the parade for 59-years. They have a lot more than they used to. There are a lot more people every year and better ornaments and decorations.”
