Hounds win a thriller in overtime

By JOE R. BOWLING, JR.

The San Benito Greyhounds made it about as exciting as they could Monday night as they raced out to a double digit second half lead only to see it go away and then pull out a win over PSJA in overtime, 70-63.

The ’Hounds played well during the start of the game as they outscored the Bears in the first three quarters. The offense clicked in the first as they scored 17 and the defense clamped down in the second quarter as they limited the Bears to single digits and took a 29-25 halftime lead.

In the third quarter the ’Hounds took the lead to as many as 14 before the Bears stormed back with a run that took them through the last of the third quarter and into the fourth; finally tying the game up with a 20-12 run to tie it at the end of regulation.
