American Military Support serves local troops

American Military Support

American Military Support works to guarantee that quality of life packages and contributions to troops stationed overseas are delivered to Valley soldiers.

Rio Hondo natives Emma Alvarado and Lupita Martinez saw a problem and did what they could to fix it.

No one really knew, however, that by doing so they’ve positively affected the lives of Valley soldiers stationed overseas.

Alvarado, 43, and Martinez, 38, are the co-founders of American Military Support, a Harlingen-based endeavor launched this March in efforts to guarantee the delivery of donations and what they call quality of life packages to Rio Grande Valley soldiers currently serving their country abroad.

While Alvarado and Martinez have friends and family in the military, it was a more general purpose that led the two to take such action.
