BROWNSVILLE – The recount of Precinct 54 in the Cameron County Judge’s race came and went Tuesday, but with little certainty as to a winner.
Although the recount of the Brownsville precinct did not change its tally, which gave Democrat John Wood 367 votes to Republican incumbent Carlos Cascos’ 299, questions still remain as to the 69 votes the judge said he recently found as a result of a reported “mathematical error.”
Meanwhile, with all of Precinct 54’s votes tallied unofficial numbers now show Wood ahead by five, 20,576 to 20,571.
